Dr. Eberhard Meissner

meissnerSenior Technical Leader, Electrochemistry, Johnson Controls Power Solutions

Eberhard Meissner is working on batteries of all types for modern automotive systems. This comprises analyzing the micro-scale mechanisms behind the macro-scale effects in battery manufacturing and implications from new types of battery duties and applications, as well as consulting teams in development, quality, operations, marketing, IP and sales including mentoring of young colleagues.

Before entering an expert role in 2014, Eberhard Meissner has managed for 27 years various development teams in fields of Lead-Acid Batteries and Lithium Ion Batteries, including material and system development. He had started his industrial career in 1985 with the R&D Center of VARTA Batterie AG.

Eberhard Meissner has published many technical and scientific papers and contributed to several textbooks on batteries and their applications. Since 1988, he is a presenter at national and international conferences and seminars.

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences awarded Eberhard Meissner with the 2014 Gaston Planté Medal for his contribution to the development of lead-acid battery science and technology.

Eberhard Meissner has studied Physics and Economics and earned a Ph.D. in Physics.
He is member of German Physical Society DPG, Association of German Engineers VDI, and of The Electrochemical Society ECS.
